Leadership Educational Advancement and Development (LEAD) Award
LEAD Award provides a $75,000 grant to support full-time OMS faculty who have dedicated at least ten years to academia. This award is intended for faculty seeking to pursue advanced degrees, certificate programs or specialized courses that will enhance their academic expertise and expand their qualifications for career advancement.
Purpose of the Award:
- The OMS Faculty Leadership Educational Advancement and Development (LEAD) Award is designed to support full-time faculty members who have dedicated at least ten years to academia by providing financial assistance to further their professional growth.
- This $75,000 grant aims to support faculty members seeking to pursue advanced degrees or certificate programs that will enhance their academic expertise and expand their qualifications for career advancement, including opportunities for promotion.
- This award recognizes the commitment of long-serving faculty to continuous learning and professional development.
- By investing in their educational pursuits, the award fosters excellence in teaching, research, and leadership within the academic community.

Guidelines
Eligibility of Applicants
- Applicants must be full-time faculty members who have dedicated at least ten years to academia through an oral and maxillofacial surgery training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- The applicant must be a fellow or member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).
- The applicant must be a donor of the OMS Foundation.
- The applicant must be a citizen or non-citizen national of the United States or its possessions and territories and have been lawfully admitted to the United States or Canada for permanent residence.
- Recipients of this grant will be expected to demonstrate how their chosen program will contribute to their professional trajectory and strengthen their impact in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Conditions of the Award
- The maximum disbursement of the award will be $75,000.
- The award will be offered for a period of three (3) years, with annual disbursements of $25,000.
- The period of the award will begin July 1.
- The recipient must commit to remaining in a full-time faculty position for the three-year award period.
- The award will be disbursed directly to the recipient to support their career advancement.
- The award may be used to support a degree or certificate program or attendance at a national or international meeting.
Application Procedures
- All applications must be submitted online via the OMS Foundation award management software.
- Curriculum vitae (CV) including educational background, professional experience, publications, and presentations.
- Personal statement (maximum 500 words) outlining their career goals.
Review Procedures
- Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee appointed by the OMS Foundation.
- The committee will evaluate each application based on academic and professional achievements and commitment to career advancement and leadership.
- The OMS Foundation Board of Directors will, at its sole discretion, select the Endowed Fellow awardee from recommendations provided by the selection committee.
