Investing in innovation to advance the specialty
Since its inception in 1959 the OMS Foundation has disbursed more than $17 million to support research, education and academic excellence in the OMS specialty.
The Foundation’s programs portfolio continues to evolve to keep pace with the priorities of the specialty, and currently includes:
Research Support Grants
$75,000/one year duration to address a topic which has been identified by the Committee on Research as a high priority for the specialty.
Clinical Research Support Grants
$150,000/biannual, two-year duration to address patient and outcomes-oriented issues identified as high-priority by the Committee on Research.
Student Research Training Awards
$12,500/two-year duration to support the cultivation and training of health profession students interested in biomedical and behavioral research.
Global Initiative for Volunteerism and Education (GIVE)
$2,500 travel stipends to senior residents traveling internationally with experienced OMS teams to deliver humanitarian healthcare to communities in need.
Resident Travel Scholarships
$1000 to reimburse documented travel expenses for residents traveling to attend AAOMS education programs and symposia. Application window varies with program.

Additional Grants, Awards and Scholarships
Faculty Educator Development Award (FEDA)
$120,000/three-year duration grant (jointly funded by OMSF and AAOMS) that offers conditional financial support to promising early-career faculty to encourage commitment to a career in academia. Applications are now closed.
