Since its inception in 1959 the OMS Foundation has worked to advance the OMS specialty through support of innovative research, advanced education opportunities and academic excellence.
In partnership with the American Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) the Foundation supports:
Innovative Research
with funding for basic and clinical research investigations addressing high-priority issues of the OMS specialty
Advanced Education Opportunities
- with financial support for education programs and symposia hosted by AAOMS and expense reimbursement for residents who travel to attend.
- with Global Initiative for Volunteerism and Education (GIVE) travel stipends for residents traveling internationally with OMS teams to offer humanitarian healthcare to communities in need.
Academic Excellence
- with Student Research Training Awards (SRTA) to attract qualified students to the OMS specialty and to investigative research
- with Faculty Educator Development Awards (FEDA) to encourage promising early-career faculty to stay in academia and train the next generation of OMS
