Treloar & Heisel simplifies legacy giving with new life insurance opportunity

Treloar & Heisel’s new guaranteed-issue life insurance program offers an easy and affordable option to AAOMS members interested in becoming members of the OMS Foundation’s R.V. Walker Society (or upgrading their current legacy gift), but the limited enrollment period requires applicants to act now.

The program offers up to $100,000 in whole life insurance with just an online application — no medical exam is required. Applicants must list the OMS Foundation as the beneficiary of the policy. Applications for higher value policies include a few health questions but no medical exam. Enrollment is open 9/30 – 12/8/2021. Policies take effect 1/1/2022.

Savvy philanthropists know that life insurance is one of the simplest options for charitable giving:

  • Because the death benefits typically far exceed the premiums paid, donating a life insurance policy often yields a much larger charitable gift than would be possible via an outright cash contribution.
  • Naming the OMS Foundation as beneficiary of the policy creates an estate tax charitable deduction equal to the value of the proceeds when they are disbursed.
  • Naming the OMS Foundation as owner and beneficiary of a new policy entitles the purchaser to an income tax deduction for the policy premium(s) and exempts the estate from tax liability when the policy is paid.

Membership in the OMS Foundation’s R.V. Walker Society is currently granted to donors who verify their intention to make a planned gift of $25,000 or more to the Foundation. To learn more about joining the Walker Society contact Mary DiCarlo at
