Alliance Events at the AAOMS Annual Meeting
September 18 – 23, 2016
Las Vegas, Nevada
For more than 20 years, the Alliance has been dedicated to supporting the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation. Alliance events at the AAOMS Annual Meeting are supported by corporate sponsors and funded by Alliance member donations.
Annual Luncheon Event
This much-anticipated event was at Springs Preserve, a unique setting away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas strip. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978, the Springs Preserve is a 180-acre cultural institution designed to commemorate Las Vegas’ dynamic history and to provide a vision for a sustainable future. The Preserve features museums, galleries, colorful botanical gardens and an interpretive trail system through a scenic wetland habitat.
Following a docent-led tour, attendees enjoyed a buffet lunch, prizes, and guest speaker Anthony Morlandt, MD, DDS of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Morlandt and his team were awarded an OMS Foundation Research Support Grant in 2014, which was supported with a $10,000 donation from the Alliance. Dr. Morlandt’s research is on head and neck tumors. It is through dedicated research like this that the OMS specialty can advance new surgical techniques and treatments that elevate patient care and outcomes.
The Alliance Health Walks are an Annual Meeting tradition and a great way to start the day! Walkers of all ages and fitness levels participated in these popular walks in Las Vegas. Our sponsor, Canfield Inc. generously provided the custom-designed t-shirts for participants.
After working up an appetite during the health walks, walk attendees met for breakfast. The breakfasts were made possible through the generosity of our longtime breakfast sponsor, Dr. William Frantzich, developer of Canfield’s Jaw Bra, a product that stabilizes the jaw following a variety of OMS surgical procedures.
