The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation is proud to have funded more than 200 research awards, fellowships and other awards, for a total of more than $9.4 million to support the specialty. Research awards provide scientific study for seasoned surgeons, oral surgery students, residents and innovative practitioners in areas of science that include oral cancer, dental implants and temporomandibular joint disorder. Fellowships provide the opportunity for young surgeons to develop specialized surgical skills and to broaden knowledge, experience, and judgment in areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery practice.
The OMS Foundation also has been, and continues to be, a primary source for funding of priority programs, such as the ongoing, groundbreaking Third Molar Study, the Outcomes Assessment program in the 1990s and Faculty Education Development Awards (FEDAs).
